Health

A word or two on safe exercise:

  • Keeping in Shape is not a competition between you and anybody else. At all times it is about you and how you feel.
  • Everybody (or almost everybody) suffers, even occasionally, from some physical problem: this should not be an excuse to give up taking regular exercise!
  • If you have an injury, please let us know, so that you can receive advice on how best to continue participating or on how best to recover.
  • If you suffer from a permanent physical problem, don't be put off. Everybody can exercise effectively within limitations.
  • Remember, "Slow motion is better than no motion."
  • If you are asthmatic, diabetic or have another respiratory, circulatory or muscular condition, don't be afraid to consult your G.P. for advice on exercise and tell us what we need to know. We will work to those guidelines
  • At all times listen to your own body.
  • All of the exercises you will learn have variations to enable you to work to your capacity.
  • Exercise should always be rewarding physically and mentally.
  • Our aim at Keeping in Shape is to ensure that regular exercise becomes a permanent part of your life.

And remember, although nobody ever achieves perfection, we should all be able to say, "We're getting there"
